Investment Promotion Activities
To promote and facilitate investment in Zambia, ZITIC provides the following services:- Serves as a reliable and efficient reference point for foreign and local investors and providing support in meeting the procedural requirements for project approvals and overcoming bottlenecks, if any, in the implementation of investment projects;
- Undertake international investment promotion missions to present the case for investing in Zambia;
- Assist Zambian-based companies in sourcing project and trade finance from both local and international markets;
- Undertake investment research and provide market intelligence to both local and foreign investors;
- Promote Greenfield investment, joint ventures and partnerships between local and foreign investors;
- Promote the transfer of appropriate and environmentally friendly technology and encourage business adaptation to practices that minimize environmental risks;
- Establishment of an investment project database to serve as the resource for identifying investment opportunities in Zambia;
- Organize visits of foreign opinion makers and journalists specialized in different industrial sectors and services;
- Promote the growth of small and micro enterprises in Zambia so as to enhance wealth creation and income distribution thereby effectively fighting poverty.
Investment Facilitation Services
In order to minimize the cost of investing in Zambia, both in terms of resources and the investor’s time, ZITIC provides the following investment facilitation services:
- Company incorporation/registration;
- Provision of all types of legal services as may be required by the Client;
- Tax registration;
- Obtain necessary investment and trading licenses/certificates, approvals, facilities and services;
- Obtaining immigration permits such as visas, work and entry permits;
- Procurement of land and business premises;
- Company secretarial services;
- Networking between foreign and local investors;
- Advise Client’s on all relevant Zambian laws;
- Facilitate the resolution of any administrative barriers that may hinder and/or delay investment;
- Secure investment sites in Multi-Facility Economic Zones (MFEZ) and obtain the necessary Certificates of Incentives;
- Prepare and negotiate Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (IPPAs) on behalf of Clients.
- Provide and disseminate up-to-date information on existing investment opportunities, benefits and incentives available to Investors;
- Arranging meetings in Zambia as may be required by the Investor and/or as may be recommended by ZITIC;
- Provide any administrative and logistical support, including travel and hotel arrangements, to the Client;
- Provide any assistance that may be required by the Client.
Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) Support Services
In order to support the growth and competitiveness of Zambian MSEs, ZITIC provides the following services to the sector:
- Preparation of bankable business plans for access to enterprise finance;
Sourcing financing for business growth; - Development of business strategies and plans for running the enterprise;
- Accounting and Management Information system design and training;
- Accounting, financial management and taxation advice;
- Company diagnostics;
- Marketing training to improve market access;
- Export networking and matchmaking;
- Trade missions and exhibition support;
- Advise on sources of appropriate technology and procurement support;
- Production, productivity and product improvement to meet quality standards;
- Development of business management skills;
- Subcontracting arrangements;
- Training in the use of IT for business growth;
- Management support to Business Associations representing MSEs to strengthen their governance, increase their membership and improve the quality of services offered to their members.
Support to Non-Resident Zambian (NRZ) Investment
In order to encourage Zambians living abroad to invest in Zambia, ZITIC provides the following support services to Non-Resident Zambians or Zambians in the Diaspora:
- Establishment of an up-to-date database of all Zambians living abroad;
- Appraising NRZs on Government policies and procedures, facilities and incentives available for investment in Zambia;
- Provision of data and information on available investment opportunities and applicable incentives;
- Provision of investment facilitation services as outlined in 4.1.2 and 4.1.3 above;
- Provision of regular information on the Zambian environment through various publications and special monthly Newsletters;
- Assisting with the identification of appropriate local joint venture partners.
